The fight against malaria
Unicef strongly believes that cost should not be a barrier to making insecticide-treated bed nets available to those most vulnerable to malaria. In 2006 alone, we have purchased more than 19.8 million nets and provided them at no cost to our government partners in developing countries. They in turn distributed 18.7 million of these nets free of charge to children and their families, while the remaining 1.1 million were distributed at a low, highly subsidized cost.
